About

The Foothills Civitan Club proudly invites the entire community to come together for a powerful outdoor patriotic family event—an awe-inspiring panorama of United States flags displayed in solemn formation from September 11th through September 18, 2026, at the Pickens County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs.

This year’s event carries even deeper meaning as we gather during two historic milestones: America’s 250th Anniversary and the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001. These anniversaries remind us not only of our nation’s founding ideals, but also of the resilience, unity, and courage that define the American spirit.

“Honoring Our Heroes” is a moving tribute that will feature hundreds of American flags standing proudly in formation—each one representing a life, a story, and a legacy. Together, they create a stirring visual tribute to our military, first responders, and personal heroes who have served, sacrificed, and strengthened our nation.

As Americans, our flag represents our shared history, our enduring freedoms, and the challenges we have faced and overcome. In this special anniversary year, it stands as a symbol of 250 years of perseverance and the unbreakable spirit that carried us through even our darkest days.

Each flag in the display is sponsored by members of the community—through personal dedications honoring loved ones, corporate sponsorships, and generous donations. Every flag tells a story, representing individuals, families, and the sacrifices made in service to others and to our country.

Walking among the rows of flags is an unforgettable experience for families of all ages. It is a moment to reflect, to remember, and to feel a deep sense of connection—to our past, to each other, and to the future we are building together.

Our Stars and Stripes stand as a symbol of unity and strength, reminding us of who we are as a nation and the lives given to protect our freedoms. This breathtaking display brings our community together in gratitude, remembrance, and hope.

We warmly invite everyone to attend this meaningful and inspiring outdoor event. Admission is free, and all are welcome to experience the Upstate Field of Honor—a place where patriotism, remembrance, and community come together in a powerful tribute to those who make our nation strong.
